Tuesday 3/10/15

Life has a fantastic way of smacking us all in the head to pay attention. Some smacks are really tough some are bright and flashing but we’re too stubborn to see the light.  But you have to be all ears to understand. Even if it’s the scariest thing you’ve done so far.

I’d been onto the other chapter of my life when this very ambitious man called out to me, we were old high schools homies and I hadn’t heard from him for almost 8-10years. It was great to hear from him and via social media I had seen he’d been through another rough chapter in his life. But the X I always knew never took no or I can’t lightly. Even after his accident. He got up and kept moving on. Bravery and strength is what flows through this mans blood. X was a semi pro extreme skier before his crash and loved the adrenaline of what the body was capable of. Little did we know how epic this new chapter would be.

Xavier also knew my background and the past I came out of. He knew the bottom I had to crawl out of to only stand tall and keepmoving forward, but with more intention fight than ever before. And that’s what he told me. “Hey man, I’m seeing you shine and our paths need to mix together because I feel like you could help me to where I wanna be, healthier, stronger and ready to live again.”

I was honored, but I was terrified!!  I had no clue how to program a workout for him. But I said yeah man. Come on and I’ll asses you and see what we can do!  Fast forward. I took his chair for a month and played with it to see how I could maneuver like he does. One thing I’ve learned, shits hard and incredibly taxing on all your upper extremities. Wow!!  It’s been a testing game for both of us. And such a fun one too. I owe a lot to that man. Not only for showing me even more to #getupandnevergiveup, but also we all have our own adaptations. We all scale something or are injured sometime. And there shouldn’t be any excuse to not move everyday.  He’s made me a better man and brighter coach and more knowledgable of what our bodies are capable of doing with the I can intention. So In light of this. Today we move no matter what. Not matter what you got going on today. Come in and enjoy something we would probably never do.
