New PR’s from Lorenzo

Our dear friend Lorenzo wrote me to tell me about some new PR’s he has gotten. This guy is truly incredible. He has taken a pretty rotten situation (he is at Englewood Federal Prison Camp) and made the best out of it and in the process has provided 10-12 guys in there with him access to transformation through Crossfit. I am so proud to know Lorenzo and to be able to help him follow his dreams and surpass his goals. He is a constant reminder to me when that voice in my head says “I can’t” or “I don’t want to” that those are just little reasons I give myself not to push through the difficulties and be the best coach and human that I can be.

WHATUP!! :)  Took a week off last week and started this week again.. lol.. man you get really freakin sore!! ha!  But got some new PR’s which im stoked about.. Dead Lift-385 from 370 Back Squat 250 from 235, and Bench 205 from 195 the power cleans and strict shoulder press have been going up pretty consistant with 5lb a month.. Power Cleans are @ 185 and Strict Shoulder Press is at 120… but my DL’s and BS’s have been going up 15lb .. really happy with that.. really happy with my form and my execution! :)  Also did “Chelsea” on Monday.. last time at UD I got 12 rounds this time I got 17 rounds… I know I can do better.. but It was one of the first WOD’s I did when getting off my break..so my pushups are what killed me ha!
Oh and I just did this WOD yesterday:

100 Air Squats
80 Push Press 75/55
60 Double U’s
40 Power Snatches
20 Front Squats
10 C 2 Bar pullups

200 Meter farmer carry w/ 1/2 body weight(I did 90lbs)

Got 18:33 with 55lb and did 95 for the front squat.. should of done 75… only did 10 at a time… you live you learn
Miss you guys!!!

It’s really great to read this. It exciting to see CrossFit empowering Lorenzo and his dozen recruits. Knowing what CrossFit has done for me, giving me the tools I need to live a healthy life and the ability and strength I need to rise above negative thoughts and stressful situations, I can only imagine how it is improving these guys’ lives.

I am always so excited to hear about new PRs! No matter what fitness level someone is at, a new PR is something to celebrate!! Please make sure Lorenzo knows I’m proud of him for his MANY recent accomplishments, and I look forward to reading more about his CF journey.

PS: Get Lorenzo and his crew to do FGB on the 17th! Then afterwards athletes from UF and athletes from Englewood can share our experiences with each other. :)

Such a great idea about FGB for Lorenzo. I alluded to it in a recent email but I need to MAKE it happen. H
