Core to Extremity!!!

CINCO DE MAYO, YO!!!!!!

TEN ROUNDS

5 THRUSTERS

5 SUMO DEAD LIFT HIGH PULL

5 PUSH PRESSES

What better way to celebrate Cinco De Mayo then to thrust a bunch of weight using a explosive hip extension. It’s kind of like a dance move, think about what it would take to get your dance partner off the floor and over your head. Or in a more every day application think about how you get your kid up on your hip or how to get your luggage in to the overhead carrier on an airplane.  What all these lifts have in common is that they rely on the core to extremity principle. Functional movement originate from the core. This allows us to employ or biggest, strongest muscle groups to initiate and propel the large load, after they(our prime movers) are finished our smaller more finesse muscles take over to finish the lift. The abs act as mid line stabilization, the hip is recruited to help build speed and momentum through the center to overhead, then the arms direct and finish the movement.

What other activities can you apply the core to extremity principle to in your daily life?
